CzechTourism examined the preferences of foreign guests
“Most Germans are from Saxony and Bavaria, more than a third of Austrians from Vienna, a quarter from Lower Austria (a federal state in the northeast), a fifth from Upper Austria (a federal state in the north). Half of Polish tourists are from the Lower Silesian Voivodeship (in southwestern Poland),” says CzechTourism spokesperson Iva Vejvodová.
Czechs prefer to stay with friends and relatives, as well as in nature, while foreigners prefer hotels, notes Vinegret.cz. Germans head to western and northwestern Czechia, Britons to Prague, Russians to Prague and Karlovy Vary, and Chinese embark on a journey through the most famous and largest Czech cities.
Leisure time habits also differ. Asians are attracted to sights, Spaniards and Australians seek above all active entertainment and exquisite food.
“In South Moravia, gastrotourism is popular; the Liberec Region is chosen for sports – cycling or skiing; the Karlovy Vary Region for spa lovers and hiking; in Vysočina, agrotourism is fashionable,” says CzechTourism director Jan Herget.
