Czechs' pride in their citizenship reached a 14-year high
A survey concerning the feelings of Czech citizens about their citizenship has been conducted since 2001, notes Vinegret.cz. During this period, only twice (in 2001 and 2005) was the number of those who said they were proud of their citizenship higher than in 2019. The lowest figure was recorded in 2013, at just 39%.
Shame for Czech citizenship is felt this year by only 6% of respondents. In 2001 it was 4%, and in 2012 as many as 18%.
Despite the fact that only half of the study participants feel pride in the nation, the vast majority said they do not want to live in another country. 77% of respondents answered that they prefer their homeland for life.
The share of those who are voluntarily ready to defend their state in case of war, however, is still small. This year the figure was 33%. The maximum was in 2005, but even then it was only 35%.
The study was conducted in October of this year. It involved 1,021 Czech citizens over the age of 15.
