Since February 26, Brazil has canceled the requirement of yellow fever vaccination for all entering the country. As reports Travel.ru, the requirement of mandatory yellow fever vaccination, outbreaks of which have been recorded in Brazil recently, was introduced in January 2008.
First of all, it is aimed at protecting tourists who intend to visit the central or northern regions of the country, including the Amazon. Nevertheless, Brazilian authorities still recommend that tourists get vaccinated if they plan to make excursions into nature.
The disease, common in South America and equatorial Africa, is caused by a virus and is accompanied by fever, intoxication, jaundice, and hemorrhaging. It is transmitted by mosquitoes.
