An important point is a successful choice of seat in the cabin. You can, of course, fly business class, or even first class, but not everyone can afford it. So we will choose in economy class (in 'economy', as it is usually called).
First of all, it is worth getting a booklet that contains seating layout diagrams for various aircraft of the airline. If you couldn't get the booklet, you can ask directly at the airline ticket office to show you on the cabin diagram the seats that are offered to you.
As everywhere, in the race for the best seats in the cabin, the fastest wins. This is especially true for charter flights. Therefore, it is worth arriving at check-in early, then the chances of getting a good seat significantly increase. True, if the plane is not full, you can change seats while already on board. You need to ask the flight attendant to move you - if there are free seats, the passenger's request is usually satisfied.
The choice of seat is largely determined by the passenger's taste. Some want to sit only by the window, others - closer to the aisle. It is clear that you should not choose window seats if you are going to get up often, for example, to go to the toilet. On the contrary, if you are going to sleep peacefully all the way, then a seat by the wall will be just right. By the way, attention to lovers of looking at clouds: carefully study the seat layout diagram! A seat by the wall is not always a window seat. For example, in the wing area, most aircraft do not have portholes. But, according to experts, motion sickness is less near the wing.
A big disadvantage of economy class is the small distance between rows. A flight attendant of one of the airlines said that in economy, the most comfortable place is at the beginning of the cabin - there is the largest 'pitch' of seats (the distance between rows). Food is also brought to the beginning of the cabin earlier. It is also worth choosing seats there if you are traveling with children. However, according to our interlocutor, although in various airlines seats for passengers with children are allocated at the beginning of the cabin, next to the flight attendant's seat, it is worth additionally clarifying this point when buying a ticket.
If you want to 'stretch' your legs, and do not want to listen to the din of children, then it is better to sit near emergency exits - there the seat pitch is larger.
As for safety, according to our interlocutor, 'fate decides everything here'. However, given that 80% of disasters occur during takeoff and landing, we will draw a conclusion: it is still safer to sit in the tail.
Firstly, if during takeoff the plane 'catches' the ground with its tail, then in the event of a break, the nose part will fly forward, and the tail will remain on the ground. It is clear that the chances of survival are much greater for passengers in the tail section of the cabin. Secondly, in a landing accident, burning fuel by inertia enters the front compartments, so, as the flight attendants gloomily joke, 'in the tail, at least they will find your corpse'.
