Head of oil company Total died in Moscow
Over the past thirty years, no more than three dozen people have been injured in incidents involving business jets. «Lenta.ru» recalls air disasters involving business aviation aircraft.
20 October 2014: A private Dassault Falcon 50 aircraft collided with a snowplow at Moscow's Vnukovo airport during takeoff. Despite the damage, the plane managed to take off, but the pilot immediately requested permission for an emergency landing. As a result of the impact on the runway, the Dassault Falcon 50 caught fire. Two crew members, a flight attendant, and the president of the French energy concern Total, Christophe de Margerie, died.
27 April 2012: A private business jet Cessna 560XL Citation XLS made an unsuccessful landing at a municipal airport in Oregon (USA). During landing, the front landing gear collapsed, and the plane crashed onto the runway. Two crew members and the sole passenger were not injured.
6 November 2010: A Dassault Falcon 900EX collided with an airport service vehicle in Naples (Italy), resulting in only the driver of the vehicle being injured. The aircraft sustained minor damage.
18 November 2009: A Dassault Falcon 900EX, owned by the Volkswagen concern, landed at Emden airport in strong crosswinds. Due to control errors, the aircraft veered off the runway, and its front landing gear collapsed.
11 November 2009: On a Dassault Falcon 2000 at London Biggin Hill business aviation airport, a fire broke out in the wing due to a malfunction in the left landing gear brake system. The fire was quickly extinguished, and none of the passengers or crew members were injured.
26 August 2009: The pilots of a Beechcraft Hawker 4000 business jet lost control of the aircraft while parking at Rio de Janeiro airport. According to their testimony, an airport employee removed the wheel chocks, causing the Beechcraft Hawker to start moving on its own, damaging three aircraft as a result.
16 September 2004: At London City Airport, a Dassault Falcon 50, owned by Netjets Transpotes Aereos, was moving to the parking area after landing. During maneuvering, due to an error by airport staff, the Dassault Falcon 50 collided with a light aircraft Cessna Citation. The fuselage was damaged, but no one was injured in the incident.
7 August 2001: A Dassault Falcon 20 lost contact with ground operators while approaching Narsarsuaq airport in Greenland and crashed. Three people went missing, and the aircraft was not found.
6 April 1994: A Dassault Falcon 50, owned by the Rwandan government, was shot down by a surface-to-air missile two kilometers from Kigali airport (Rwanda). The attack killed three crew members and nine passengers, including the presidents of Rwanda and Burundi.
10 November 1985: A Dassault Falcon 50 belonging to Nabisco Brands, Inc. collided in mid-air with a light aircraft Piper PA-28, then lost control and crashed into a residential building. The disaster occurred seven kilometers from Teterboro Airport, New Jersey, USA. The causes of the collision, which killed six people, were identified as a lack of coordination among air traffic controllers and an error by the pilots of the Dassault Falcon 50.
12 May 1985: A private Dassault Falcon 50 at a municipal airport in Wisconsin caught fire upon impact with the ground during landing, then veered off the runway. No passengers or crew were injured.
