Jan Bough recalled that the Ukrainian authorities want to start negotiations on introducing a visa-free regime for Ukrainian citizens with the EU in the near future, and in the agreements between Ukraine and the EU this is defined as a prospective goal. 'I must admit, this is still a fairly distant prospect; one cannot hope that it will happen in the near future,' he noted, speaking at a political debate during the celebration of Europe Day in Kyiv.
At the same time, as Radio Svoboda reports, the head of the European Commission Representation recalled that Ukraine and the EU signed an agreement on a simplified visa regime for certain categories of citizens. 'This agreement works fairly well. It cannot be said that it is perfect, but still very well,' he stated.
