Hindu temples on Bali amaze with their diversity
Here, religious temples are found absolutely everywhere: on mountain peaks and in deep jungles, by fast rivers and in rice fields, in cemeteries and in residential courtyards. This happens because locals believe in protection from misfortunes and evil spirits, which a holy place provides. Therefore, when coming to Bali, you should first visit the numerous temples. A Russian-speaking guide in Bali, Ari Ketut from the company Gidnabali.ru will help you with this.
The Mother Temple of Bali is considered the most important on the island. It is a complex of 22 holy buildings of extraordinary beauty, located on the slope of the picturesque Mount Gunung Agung. This place is closed to visitors, but sometimes ceremonies are held specifically for tourists, which can be seen from outside the temple.
Tanah Lot Temple is located in the southwest of Bali, and many travelers strive to get there. It is situated on a steep coastal cliff and is an unusually beautiful openwork building that amazes visitors even from the shore. The roof is made in an oriental style with numerous tiers. Many legends surround this temple, but the main and most plausible one is associated with a holy spring, an abundance of snakes, and the appearance of the rock.
The oldest and most revered mountain on Bali, Mount Batukau, is located in the southeast of the island. Its height reaches 2,276 meters, and the summit is covered with impenetrable jungles, which became the basis for establishing a protected area here. At the foot of the mountain, of course, there is also a temple, called Pura Luhur Batukau.
The southernmost point of the island is marked by a rocky cape and the influential Uluwatu Temple. The panoramic view here is extraordinarily beautiful; the temple from the cape looks like a true giant. After admiring the landscapes, you can go down along a road carved into the rock specifically for tourists. It will lead to the most famous surfing spot in Bali, where World Championships in this sport have been held more than once.
After wandering around here a bit, you should visit another very remarkable temple – Pura Taman Ayun, which is considered the most beautiful on the island. It is located in the center of a reservoir, so only one bridge allows you to reach it.
