Some airlines are beginning to experiment with cryptocurrencies
Companies responsible for air transportation have announced their readiness and desire to switch to payment using cryptocurrencies, namely Bitcoin. One such company is Far Eastern Air Transport. FAT Taiwan Inc has existed since the late 1950s; it is a large company responsible for civil air transportation in Taiwan. Zhang Gangwei, the head of this company, believes that cryptocurrencies will help the development of the hotel, cafe, and restaurant industries.
As noted in a publication by ClickChain, cryptocurrencies were welcomed with pleasure in Taiwan itself. Central Bank Governor Pern Fainan stated that cryptocurrencies should not be banned, but they need to be brought under legal control.
One of the first sectors of the global economy to actively enter the crypto industry was the aviation business. The Hungarian company Wizz Air created a special bar where payment was only possible with Bitcoin. Latvia's national airline AirBaltic also introduced payment using cryptocurrency in test mode. In 2015, LOT announced the sale of tickets for its flights for BTC. As the head of the sales department later stated, many people bought tickets with Bitcoin.
A year ago, an airline that transports American businesspeople announced the start of selling tickets for two cryptocurrencies: BTC and Ethereum. Companies such as UATP, Expedia, and others that sell airline tickets online have also announced their readiness to accept payment in cryptocurrency.
The management of one Australian airport reported its readiness to accept payment for any purchases in crypto coins. Many members of the aviation business understand that the crypto industry is developing rapidly, and those who help it will undoubtedly reap huge benefits themselves.
