From February 23, designated carriers of the countries on the main routes (on the Ukrainian side – Ukraine International Airlines, on the German side – Lufthansa) between Kyiv (Boryspil airport) and Berlin, Kyiv and Munich, Kyiv and Frankfurt will operate 21 flights weekly.
In addition, the parties agreed to remove restrictions on the number of points in Ukraine and Germany for flights of regional carriers (on the Ukrainian side – Dniproavia, UMAir, AeroSvit, Donbass-Aero, on the German side – LOT, Air Berlin), which will operate seven regular flights weekly.
Restrictions for carriers of both countries on the type of aircraft used and the number of seats on flights have also been lifted; overnight parking of aircraft at airports is allowed.
The aviation authorities of Ukraine and Germany confirmed their readiness to further liberalize bilateral air services so that by 2007 the parity quota on main routes would be 28 flights weekly. Following the negotiations, a corresponding protocol was signed.
