The number of Chinese coming to study in the U.S. increased by 20%, but in absolute numbers, India remains in first place in terms of the number of foreign students in the U.S. The number of Indians in American colleges and universities grew by 13%.
As Lenta.ru notes, American students' interest in China increased after the Summer Olympic Games in Beijing. According to the director of the Chinese language study program, which unites 13 American universities, while they used to satisfy 97% of applications for participation, now they accept only one out of three students who wish to join.
