In addition to the basic colors of all dollar banknotes - green, black and white - the new twenty has added peach, blue and yellow. On the front of the bill, to the left of Jackson's ear, is a large bluish eagle symbolizing the freedom of the American people. Another small eagle is placed to the right of Jackson. The number 20, which has changed from green to yellow, is written on the front at the bottom right corner. When viewing the banknote at different angles, it changes color from copper to green. On the entire reverse side of the banknote, the numbers 20 are printed in small print. On the left side are the words USA Twenty and a small flag is drawn. This is the main protection of the bill.
In 2004-2005, new 50- and 100-dollar banknotes are to appear in circulation, which are also planned to be colored. The Fed intends to update banknotes of all denominations every seven to ten years. This period is considered optimal for the fight against counterfeiters. No deadlines have been set for new banknotes to completely replace old ones. At the same time, the Fed assures that devaluation and any other unpleasant consequences are excluded. New banknotes (by the way, more than a billion have already been printed) will be gradually put into circulation, and old ones will be withdrawn. Citizens themselves will not have to exchange them.
The 20-dollar banknote is the most counterfeited bill in the US. Interestingly, in the rest of the world, $100 is counterfeited much more often. $10 and $5 bills are counterfeited quite rarely, and $1 and $2 almost never, so the Fed does not plan to update them yet.
